What is mental health?

  • Mental health: Mental health is “a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community” – WHO
  • Being mentally healthy does not necessarily mean that you feel happy all the time and you are totally satisfied with your life
  • It’s also important to point out that mental health is more than the absence of mental illness.
  • Human performance and mental health go hand in hand
  • Obviously, poor mental health affects all aspects of our life, as well as work.
  • This is why mental health should be a top priority by employers everywhere
