Lesson 11 Protective clothing – Reflective clothing

  • While working as a cleaner you may be often performing your tasks in the streets with different volume of traffic.
  • The same situation is in case of staff of waste removal vehicles.
  • You need to be visible for other traffic users to be safe from being a victim of an accident.
  • One of protective measures is wearing a reflective clothing.
  • This type of clothing has to meet specific requirements, set out in different standards.
  • The design of such clothing includes two different materials, assuring visibility both in the daylight and at night: background material with fluorescent properties and reflective and combined-performance materials that reflect the light back to its source and ensure visibility at night in the light of the vehicles.
  • Torso only;
  • Torso and arms;
  • Legs;
  • Torso, arms and legs.
  • It is important that the protective clothing is designed in an ergonomic manner, assuring proper fit: not too tight, not too loose, not to interfere with movement, if possible, made of breathing and water resistant materials, just to ensure a good comfort level for worker using these clothes.
