Lesson 7 Eye injuries

All eye injuries have the potential to be serious.

  • If you have something in your eye, rinse it thoroughly with clean water or sterile fluid from a sealed container to remove any particles.
  • Do not attempt to dislodge anything stuck in your eye.
  • If chemicals are present, flush the eye for at least 10 minutes with water or sterile fluid while gently holding the eyelids open.
  • Keep pad over wounded eye and go to the hospital.
