Lesson 9 Hand and arm protection

  • Protecting your hands is as important as protecting other parts of the body. Gloves are designed for hand protection (some designs include also forearm and arm) from mechanical, chemical, or biological risk factors.
  • They must meet strict requirement set out in standards, defining the general requirements for protective gloves, e.g. design, sizes, innocuousness, cleaning, comfort, dexterity, marking and instructions for use of the gloves.
  • Gloves to be used by workers have to be selected in accordance to possible risk factors present in working environment.
  • To make you safe, it is necessary to properly put on and off the protective gloves.
